Goats

These feisty, fun creatures were the first livestock on Highland Homestead farm. From our first two does – an Alpine/Boer cross named Bathound and a Boer named Maisy – the herd has grown and we have had the joy of raising many, many kids. Raising friendly, pet-able goats is Susie’s specialty and she is always happy to share expertise and advice on caring for them.

Currently, we have Boer, Boer/Alpine cross, and Nubian goats.

Boer

Our Boers are hearty and resilient goats, perfect for raising as meat goats! The classic white body and reddish brown head make a beautiful herd. We also have Boer/Alpine crosses, which have both the strong dairy producing of the Alpine breed and the large, hearty meat of the Boer.

Nubian

If you are looking for a sweet, gentle dairy goat, then a Nubian is the goat for you. Our Nubians are friendly and love people – especially when those people will pet them. They produce plenty of milk with a mild flavor.
